When will teams be announced?

Your player will be rostered on a team in an age-appropriate division.  Depending on age and division, a draft will be accomplished after assessments are completed. You will receive a roster and team notification email from SCLL shortly thereafter.  Your team manager will also reach out to you with a welcome email with important details on the first practice.

Where are practices and games?

SCLL’s home field is Lower Potomac Field, but we do use other fields in the local area such as Laurel Hill Park and Halley Elementary.  Your team may also occasionally play an “away” game in the local area against another a local Little League such as Woodlawn (slightly more away games for older Softball & Juniors divisions).

Tee Ball will have 1 weekday practice and 1 game on Saturday.  Other divisions will practice 1-2 times per week before games begin.  After the season starts, most divisions should plan on 1 practice and 2 games per week (1 weeknight, 1 Saturday).  Some managers offer an optional batting practice depending on cage availability.

Schedules do vary slightly by division and are always dependent on field status and weather.

It sounds like a lot of work to keep SCLL running.  How can I help?

Simply put, SCLL will not run without your volunteerism.  Coaching, serving as team parent, score keeping, field prep and helping in the concession stand are all fulfilling ways to be a part of your child’s experience, improve SCLL and meet your volunteer bond requirement.

If you’re working from home, coming over to help tarp the fields before inclement weather is an easy way to keep SCLL’s games from being cancelled and only takes a few minutes.

No experience is necessary, we’ll train you!  Look for more info from our Volunteer Coordinator in the coming weeks on how to help.

How will SCLL and managers communicate?

SCLL primarily uses email (via SportsConnect) and a mobile application (GameChanger) to communicate schedules and other important announcements.  Managers will use GameChanger (recommended) or other group messaging/calendar application to communicate.  Ensure you have SUBSCRIBED to SCLL emails in SportsConnect

Our webpage and social media are also great resources to get the latest information.
